A word from Gérald Tremblay |

The City of Montreal acknowledges the inestimable contribution of the Black community to the social, economic and cultural life of our city. Since 1990, the city has worked enthusiastically and energetically with the Black History Month Round Table and other partners, including the Department of Immigration and Cultural Communities, on this annual event that pays special tribute to the Black community. Montréal is the expression of the men and women of all origins who work hard to improve our quality of life. This year’s theme, “Each One’s Effort Brings More to All,” chosen to inspire Black History Month activities, reflects this view and is based on values we all strongly believe in and support. Throughout the month of February, in every part of the city, there will be numerous exceptional cultural events. I invite Montrealers of every origin to participate, in joy and friendship. In addition to encouraging reconciliation and discussion, these celebrations help us appreciate the richness that results from the cultural diversity that makes Montreal a city without equal and a city where it’s pleasurable to live. I wish everyone a wonderful celebration!
